Grain futures fell on Thursday after biodiesel blending recommendations came in below expectations, with soybeans suffering the largest loss. Corn and wheat also declined on technical selling and optimism that Black Sea exports were proceeding.
Crude oil rose 0.75% to $81 a barrel while diesel fell 3%.
Weaker-than-expected biodiesel blending lowers expected soyoil demand and cuts the crush margin for soymeal. Lower prices across grains reduce feed input costs for buyers.
