A 2-megawatt solar energy project has been inaugurated at the Khairat Al-Shamal – Dajaj Al-Khair feed factory in Mafraq, Jordan, combining photovoltaic electricity generation with a PV-to-Heat system capable of producing up to 1.35 tonnes of industrial steam per hour, with the aim of reducing operating energy costs.
Sheng Long Aqua Technology, a subsidiary of China's Guangdong Haid Group, broke ground on August 10 on its first Malaysian aquafeed factory in Kamunting, Perak. The first phase carries a budget of approximately RM140 million, with operations targeted for 2028 and a nameplate capacity of 150,000 metric tonnes per year across two shrimp-feed and two fish-feed lines.
Skretting Vietnam has soft-launched a dedicated Aquaculture Feed Validation Farm designed to support structured feed research and product validation across fish and shrimp species, with potential reach across Southeast Asia and the company's global innovation network.
Indonesia's Agriculture Ministry has allocated around Rp 17 trillion to build an integrated livestock industry spanning feed mills, hatcheries, poultry and dairy farms across the country, with five initial sites in Lampung, East Java, South Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara and Gorontalo targeted for completion in 2027.
Finnish biotechnology company Enifer has started commissioning its first industrial-scale PEKILO® mycoprotein facility in Kantvik, Finland, with a planned output of 500 kg of dry mycoprotein per hour. The plant, funded partly through the EU's NextGenerationEU programme, aims to strengthen Finland's domestic protein supply for animal feed as the country's self-sufficiency in supplementary plant-based protein stands at only around 15%.
An unprecedented drought in Austria has sharply reduced 2026 autumn crop yields, with potatoes down 50–70%, soybeans more than 50%, and grain maize nearly 30% versus the five-year average. The shortfalls are tightening feed ingredient and raw material availability for domestic processors and neighbouring EU markets, pushing up procurement costs for livestock producers and feed formulators.
