Indonesia earmarks Rp 17 trillion for integrated livestock and feed ecosystem

Indonesia's Agriculture Ministry has earmarked approximately Rp 17 trillion to develop an integrated livestock industry across the archipelago, with the construction of five initial sites set for completion next year, according to a statement published on 28 September 2026 by The Jakarta Post.

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman said the programme follows a directive from President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen domestic food security by linking businesses from feeding and breeding through to farming and distribution. The integrated ecosystem is designed to include feed mills, day-old chick (DOC) production, chicken and egg farms, as well as dairy cattle raising and milk production.

The five initial livestock development areas are located in Lampung, East Java, South Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara and Gorontalo. Minister Amran said administrative and budgeting processes for these five sites have already been completed, with an inauguration targeted for 2027.

"Five feed factories, DOC and so on will be completed next year. God willing, these five will be inaugurated next year," Amran said.

Of the total Rp 17 trillion envelope, Rp 2.2 trillion has been specifically approved by President Prabowo for the first five sites. Amran indicated the remaining funds are intended to support a broader nationwide rollout beyond the initial locations.

The programme represents a significant step for Indonesia's domestic feed manufacturing sector, as the government seeks to strengthen domestic supplies of chicken, eggs and milk for the country's population.
