Rabobank's semi-annual global fertiliser outlook says prices climbed off 10-year lows in the second half of 2020 on stronger demand. The bank expects urea and phosphate prices to hold steady until the start of Q2 2021, then face pressure from heavy supply and rising capacity.
Rabobank also says Australian growers face favourable farmgate fertiliser prices through 2021.
Heavy global supply and new capacity are expected to cap fertiliser prices after the northern-hemisphere seasonal demand fades. Lower input costs support grain and oilseed margins, which can keep acreage and crop output steady.
