Pakistan's Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar has called a meeting on Monday to discuss availability of urea and DAP for the Rabi season. The meeting follows concerns about high prices of both fertilizers, and notices have been sent to urea manufacturers and DAP importers.
A Cabinet Committee has also been set up to negotiate and review fertilizer prices and availability.
Tight availability or high prices for urea and DAP could raise Pakistan's input costs for Rabi-season crops and may increase fertilizer import demand. The policy response could affect pricing for nitrogen and phosphate products in the region.
After 129 past bullish policy events, Urea moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.3%), and +1.4% over 20.
After 151 past bullish policy events, DAP moved a median +0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -0.6% to +0.9%), and +1.9% over 20.
