ING reported that the July WASDE was largely bearish for corn and soybeans. USDA raised US corn production by 55 million bushels to 15.32 billion on higher planted area, and cut soybean output by 210 million bushels to 4.3 billion.
Global corn and soybean balance sheets were also adjusted.
Higher US corn output and stocks above expectations weigh on feed grain prices, while the soybean meal outlook is shaped by the balance between lower output and higher carryout.
After 1,102 past bearish report events, CORN moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.8% to +1.3%), and +0.0% over 20.
After 788 past bearish report events, SOY moved a median -0.3% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -2.0% to +1.5%), and -0.9% over 20.
After 250 past neutral report events, SBM moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (49% higher; middle half -1.6% to +1.7%), and +0.4% over 20.
