Aflatoxins and Imported Products Dominate EU RASFF Mycotoxin Notifications, Study Finds

A new analysis of EU RASFF data covering 2020–2024 finds that aflatoxins accounted for 84 percent of mycotoxin-related food and feed notifications, with products originating outside the EU implicated in 90 percent of cases. Researchers from the University of Córdoba and CSIC found no statistically significant long-term upward trend in notifications despite a record 663 in 2024.

FEFAC warns EU faces 5 million-tonne soybean meal supply gap under EUDR

The European Feed Manufacturers' Federation (FEFAC) has published its fourth impact assessment warning that converging pressures from drought, Black Sea trade disruption, and EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) sourcing constraints could create a soybean meal supply gap of at least 5 million tonnes in the 2026/2027 marketing year, with total estimated costs to the EU feed and livestock sector reaching around €1.40 billion.
