The Brazilian dollar closed down 0.64% at R$5.451 on Wednesday, tracking a weaker US dollar after Democrats won the US midterm elections. The Ibovespa rose more than 1% and the DXY fell 0.2% to 101.52, while Brent dropped 8.67% to $94.62.
The market closed before the central bank announced it would hold the Selic at 13.75%.
A softer dollar and lower oil reduce pressure on Brazilian import costs, though the Selic hold and fiscal concerns limit how far the real can rally. Feed buyers importing inputs priced in dollars may see slightly lower costs.
