The Rosario Grain Exchange (BCR) raised its Argentine wheat production forecast to 23.8 million tonnes from 21 million, after early harvest results. Average yields are 21.3 quintals per hectare, one point above last year at the same stage, and 6.7% of the 6.5 million eligible hectares have been harvested.
A larger Argentine crop adds exportable wheat at a time when Black Sea logistics are uncertain, giving international buyers an alternative supplier. This is bearish for wheat prices and supports feed-grade wheat availability in the coming months.
