German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said an agreement to facilitate grain exports from Ukraine and Russia through the Black Sea could be reached in the coming weeks. He made the remarks in a ZDF interview on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Atlanta.
He stressed that such arrangements would not resolve the wider war but that a mechanism to restore stable Black Sea grain shipments must be found.
A restored Black Sea grain corridor would ease shipping risk and could pressure wheat and corn prices lower, though the deal is not yet concluded and remains uncertain.
