Steep falls in Chinese edible oil prices have pushed soybean crush margins at Shandong plants deep into negative territory. Soybean oil futures on the Dalian exchange have dropped 15% since end-January, following a glut from higher vegetable oil imports and state rapeseed oil auctions.
Negative crush margins give processors reason to cut soybean purchases and palm oil imports, which weighs on palm oil and soyoil prices. Lower China crush also reduces soymeal output, a factor for feed buyers to watch.
