Global nitrogen fertilizer prices are easing as the market centre shifts to China, with urea rising modestly in August in several origins. Ammonia prices have fallen west of Suez, with Tampa contracts dropping from $825/t in May to $555/t in August, while eastern prices stabilised near $450-460/t.
China plans a third export quota of 2 million tons.
Planned Chinese export quota additions will add supply to the region and pressure urea and ammonia prices, while high European gas costs limit the downside in some markets.
