Ethanol plants are idling because of low oil prices during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is cutting DDGS availability and forcing pork producers to pull DDGS from swine diets. Losing DDGS shifts swine feed demand back toward corn and soybean meal, which supports those ingredients while weakening DDGS prices. Higher amino acid and phosphate use adds cost pressure on rations.
