The USDA's January WASDE raised its 2020/21 forecast for soybean oil used in biodiesel to 8.2 billion pounds, up from 8.1 billion. The report cut the US soybean crop by 35 million bushels to 4.1 billion, but raised the export forecast to a record 2.2 billion bushels.
Ending stocks were projected at 140 million bushels, down 35 million.
Stronger biofuel demand for soybean oil and tighter US soybean ending stocks support soybean and soy oil prices. The higher crush forecast also shifts supply toward soybean meal.
