US corn growers are urging faster antitrust action on fertilizer as prices keep rising. Anhydrous ammonia is up about 18% year on year at $987/t, urea about 13%, and UAN28 about 7%.
MAP and potash also increased.
Rising nitrogen and phosphate costs raise corn production costs and pressure farm margins. Continued fertilizer price increases can reduce planted acreage or nitrogen application.
After 129 past bullish policy events, UREA moved a median -0.1% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.3%), and +1.4% over 20.
After 310 past bearish policy events, CORN moved a median +0.3% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.4% to +1.9%), and +0.6% over 20.
