The EU has agreed to delay its anti-deforestation law by another year. The regulation was due to take effect on December 30 and would have required proof that soy, beef and palm oil imports did not cause deforestation.
The delay removes near-term compliance costs and documentation burdens for soymeal, soyoil and palm oil exporters into Europe, easing pressure on EU import premiums and supporting continued flows.
