The European Parliament voted to support a one-year delay of the EU Deforestation Regulation, which restricts imports of commodities linked to forest destruction. The ban covers soy, beef, palm oil and other products.
The delay is the second postponement of the law.
A further one-year delay postpones the date when EU buyers must prove deforestation-free sourcing, easing near-term demand constraints on soy and palm oil into Europe. This reduces the chance of a compliance-driven premium emerging in 2026.
