The EPA has proposed RFS updates including 2026 and 2027 volume obligations of at least 5.61 and 5.86 billion gallons of biomass-based diesel. The proposal would also cut the value of RINs for fuels made from foreign feedstocks, which the advocacy group says would raise costs and shift imports.
Reducing RIN credit for imported feedstocks would make foreign oils less attractive for US biofuel producers, which supports domestic soybean oil and draws demand toward Palm Oil from elsewhere. Higher biofuel costs could also push up food and fuel prices.
