Jordan’s cooperative cattle breeders’ association said some feed traders had raised corn prices from 275 to 300 dinars per tonne, with some quotes above 310, and soybean prices from 425 to 510 dinars. The association disputed traders’ claims that the increases reflected the Ukraine war and Russian export restrictions, saying Jordan mainly imports these products from Argentina and the United States, and called for government action to curb prices.
Higher local corn and soybean costs could raise dairy production costs and put upward pressure on milk and dairy prices, although the association says the increases are not supported by global prices or Jordan’s import exposure.
