Uttar Pradesh suspended 315 fertilizer dealer licences and cancelled 72 during the rabi season after more than 16,000 sales points were inspected in 16,912 raids; authorities also reported 48 FIRs and 28 arrests. The state said fertilizer availability by September 29 was 3.162 million tonnes, up from 2.161 million tonnes a year earlier, although farmers queued for DAP in Agra on November 7.
The higher reported stocks suggest enforcement is intended to address hoarding and illegal sales rather than a statewide supply deficit, but localized access problems could still disrupt timely fertilizer use.
