Gustavo Idígoras, head of Argentina's oilseed industry chamber Ciara-CEC, said soybean sales are running behind schedule and the harvest will not reach 10 million tonnes of sales. He said the crop is below 22 million tonnes with poor quality from green grains caused by drought.
He also cited an unsettled currency market and low prices.
Slow farmer selling and drought-damaged quality reduce Argentine soymeal and oil supply to the export market, but weak prices and currency uncertainty are holding back sales, which pressures soybean prices and keeps crush margins under strain.
