The Vietnam Competition Authority reports that imports of urea and DAP fertilizer have surged, causing heavy losses for domestic producers. Imports in the first nine months of the year reached 443,000 tonnes, up 60% year on year, mainly from China.
Cheap imports from China pressure regional fertilizer prices and may prompt trade defence measures. This adds downward pressure on phosphate and urea prices in Southeast Asia.
