Malaysia's crude palm oil production rose 35% in the second quarter of 2020, led by Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah. June output of 1.89 million tonnes was the highest of the year.
The recovery follows a dry-weather episode in 2019 that cut output in late 2019 and early 2020.
Higher output from recovering weather conditions adds palm oil supply, which pressures prices. Buyers may see easier availability of palm-based fats and oils.
After 29 past bearish weather events, Palm Oil moved a median -0.3% over 5 sessions (38% higher; middle half -2.2% to +0.6%), and -1.4% over 20.
