Natural gas forward prices fell during September 10-16 as cooling weather, rising storage and the lingering shutdown of the Cameron LNG export terminal after Hurricane Laura weighed on the market. October futures lost about 7 cents on average and November about 14 cents.
Reduced LNG export demand and a looser storage position push gas prices lower, which reduces energy and fertilizer input costs over the coming months. The price effect on feed commodities is indirect.
After 104 past bearish weather events, Natural Gas moved a median -7.8% over 5 sessions (22% higher; middle half -14.8% to -0.8%), and -3.3% over 20.
