Saskatchewan oat breeder Jim Dyck of Oat Advantage has launched two new oat varieties, ORe 3541M and ORe 3542M, available through SeCan. The varieties show resistance to crown rust and yielded 150 to 190 bushels per acre in Manitoba trials, comparable to established varieties.
Improved oat genetics with lower thin-seed content mainly affect milling quality; they have little near-term effect on feed oat supply or prices.
After 303 past report events, Oats moved a median -0.0% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -2.9% to +3.4%), and -0.3% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
