Statistics Canada put the 2025/26 oat harvest at 3.92 million tonnes, up from 3.36 million, on a yield gain rather than more acres. Grain Millers' Scott Shiels expects Canadian oat acres to fall this spring and projects carryout of 700,000 to 750,000 tonnes, the largest in a long time.
A large carryout and expected acreage cuts point to ample supply and low cash bids, with some elevators already below C$3 per bushel. Feed buyers should expect soft oat prices through the coming marketing year.
After 72 past bearish report events, Oats moved a median +0.2% over 5 sessions (50% higher; middle half -3.7% to +3.8%), and -2.5% over 20.
