Thailand will ban pig imports from Myanmar for 90 days after Myanmar confirmed its first African swine fever case. The livestock department confirmed the restriction to Reuters on Thursday, 15 August 2019.
Thailand is trying to keep ASF out of its herd, and the ban limits cross-border pig trade in the region. The volumes involved are small, so the direct effect on feed and pork prices is limited.
