The European Union imposed five-year anti-dumping tariffs on urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) fertilizer from Russia, the US and Trinidad and Tobago. Duties reach 42.47 euros per ton for most Russian exporters, with Acron and US producer CF Industries among those hit.
The goal is to protect EU producers from below-cost imports.
The tariffs remove a portion of cheap nitrogen imports from the EU market, which tends to firm European UAN and urea prices. Exporters will likely redirect volumes to other markets, adding some pressure elsewhere.
After 176 past bullish trade events, Urea moved a median +0.1% over 5 sessions (51% higher; middle half -1.3% to +2.4%), and +1.6% over 20.
