Indonesia will not collect palm oil export levies until 1 January 2020, delaying a scheduled October start after the reference price reached about US$574.9 per tonne. The delay follows a directive from the president over concerns about farmer incomes.
The levies fund biodiesel programme development, palm research and smallholder replanting.
Keeping export levies suspended lowers the cost of Indonesian palm oil exports, supporting export competitiveness and near-term supply to buyers. Expected B30 biodiesel implementation in 2020 could add around 3 million tonnes of domestic CPO demand, which is supportive for prices.
