USDA's February WASDE report left 2020/21 U.S. corn ending stocks at 1.502 billion bushels after raising exports only 50 million bushels, well below the roughly 160 million expected. Soybean ending stocks came in at 120 million bushels, the lowest since 2013-14.
March corn had set a new contract high before the report and then broke lower.
The smaller export increase left U.S. corn supplies looser than traders expected, which pressured corn prices. Tight soybean stocks support soybean and soymeal prices.
After 1,102 past bearish report events, Corn moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.8% to +1.3%), and +0.0% over 20.
After 747 past bullish report events, Soybeans moved a median +0.3% over 5 sessions (54% higher; middle half -1.4% to +2.1%), and +0.8% over 20.
