Malaysia's palm oil board said collection of used palm cooking oil requires a licence, and it reported that purchases of used palm cooking oil by dealers and biodiesel plants rose to 446,904 tonnes in 2020. The board also said recycled used oil can be used for biodiesel, animal feed and other non-food products.
This is a regulatory note on waste oil collection with little direct effect on feed or palm prices. Growing use of used cooking oil for biodiesel modestly supports demand for waste-based feedstocks.
