Argentina's informal peso weakened 2.05% to 195 per dollar on Friday, and its country risk spread widened 19 basis points to an all-time high of 1,672. The peso fell 4.36% over the week as inflation hit 3.5% in September, with a 52.5% annual rate, ahead of November congressional elections.
A weaker peso makes Argentine soybean and meal exports cheaper in dollar terms, which can encourage farmer selling and pressure world soymeal and soybean prices. Persistent currency stress also raises the risk of a sharper devaluation later.
