The EU Council adopted its position on the draft deforestation regulation on June 28, 2022, and the Parliament's ENVI Committee adopted its report on July 12 with 60 votes in favour. The compromise amendments would widen covered commodities to include swine, poultry, maize and rubber.
Adding maize, poultry and swine to scope would extend compliance costs into feed grain and animal protein trade, a meaningful supply-side factor for EU feed buyers.
