The CFTC issued an order fining Ceres Global Ag Corp $3 million for attempted manipulation of July 2016 and March 2017 oat futures contracts. The order says senior personnel directed large long positions near the speculative limit and delivered oats to raise prices.
The penalty is a regulatory matter with little direct supply impact on oats, so it has limited effect on feed or grain prices.
After 16 past neutral policy events, Oats moved a median -1.1% over 5 sessions (44% higher; middle half -3.1% to +4.3%), and -5.7% over 20.
Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
