Canadian oat millers Grain Millers and Paterson Grain advised growers not to use the growth regulator Manipulator (chlormequat) on oats, saying it offers little agronomic value and may reduce yield and quality. The message followed a February 28 email to suppliers.
Reduced chlormequat use could affect oat lodging control and yields, and quality concerns may weigh on Canadian oat demand if contamination concerns persist.
After 16 past neutral policy events, Oats moved a median -1.1% over 5 sessions (44% higher; middle half -3.1% to +4.3%), and -5.7% over 20.
