USDA data show US beef exports fell 2.9% year over year in May 2024 and January-May exports are 4.9% below 2023, while beef imports rose 10.4% in May. USDA's June WASDE forecasts 2024 beef exports 7.2% lower than 2023 and a further 11.3% decline in 2025.
