Queensland insights report that Middle East conflict and Hormuz closure have pushed up global fertiliser costs and created shipping uncertainty. Australia imports about 90% of its nitrogen and nearly 70% of its phosphate fertilizer.
Higher input costs are expected to flow through to grain and red meat and poultry feed.
Import dependence and higher nitrogen and phosphate costs raise farm input costs and could tighten grain and feed supply in the region. The impact is a background risk rather than a new price shock.
