Heavy rain of 30 to 90 millimeters fell over 24 hours across Argentina's core agricultural region, according to the Rosario grains exchange. The exchange said the rains improved conditions for corn and wheat after a drought, and it had cut its 2024/25 wheat estimate to 19.5 million tons earlier in the month.
Corn planting can resume and soybean planting can accelerate.
Easing drought losses raise expected Argentine corn and wheat supplies, which is bearish for prices. Improved soy planting also supports meal and oil supply later in the season.
After 357 past bearish weather events, Corn moved a median -0.3% over 5 sessions (44% higher; middle half -2.2% to +1.3%), and -0.5% over 20.
After 334 past bearish weather events, Wheat (SRW) moved a median -0.2% over 5 sessions (47% higher; middle half -1.9% to +1.7%), and -0.2% over 20.
