USDA's weekly co-products report shows the Central Illinois soybean crush margin fell 10.4% week on week to $1.90 per bushel for the week ending January 17. Soybean meal dropped 1.7% to $300.70 per short ton, while soybean oil rose 5.3%.
Weaker soymeal prices and a narrower crush margin may slow crushing and reduce near-term soymeal supply, while firmer soybean oil supports the oil side of the crush.
After 399 past bearish report events, Soybean Meal moved a median -0.4% over 5 sessions (44% higher; middle half -2.4% to +1.2%), and -1.0% over 20.
After 296 past bullish report events, Soybean Oil moved a median -0.0% over 5 sessions (49% higher; middle half -1.8% to +2.0%), and -0.5% over 20.
