EnviroZyme Launches MultiBio Edge Feed Additive Targeting Vibrio Risks in Shrimp and Finfish Aquaculture

EnviroZyme has launched a new feed additive called MultiBio Edge, described as a multi-strain prebiotic, probiotic, and postbiotic product designed for use in shrimp and finfish aquaculture feeds, according to a report published by Food Safety Magazine on 22 September 2026.

The additive is applied during the post-pelleting coating process and is intended, according to EnviroZyme, to support feed attractability, digestion, and gut health. The company states that the microbial consortia selected for the product produce digestive enzymes that help break down complex feed ingredients, potentially improving nutrient availability and feed digestibility.

EnviroZyme reported that internal testing demonstrated amylase, cellulase, and pectinase enzyme activity in the product. The company also reported that MultiBio Edge increased feed attractability and inhibited colonization of Vibrio species on feed surfaces.

On pathogen-related effects, EnviroZyme reported that testing showed the additive reduced cytotoxicity caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus, a bacterial pathogen of concern in shrimp aquaculture, helping to protect intestinal cells. Bacterial genetic profiling further showed changes in the composition of the shrimp gut microbiome, including a lower signal for a marker associated with V. parahaemolyticus, according to the company.
