Bangladesh plans three fertilizer plants: a 1,700-tonne-per-day urea factory in Bhola, a 400,000-tonne-per-year triple superphosphate factory in Chattogram, and a 24,000-tonne-per-year UF-85 plant in Narsingdi. The projects are part of a plan to raise domestic fertilizer output to 2.7 million tonnes within three to five years, reducing reliance on imports; current domestic TSP and DAP production supplies only a small share of demand.
If completed, added urea and TSP capacity could reduce Bangladesh’s import requirements and ease exposure to international fertilizer supply and prices. The effect is prospective and depends on project completion and operating capacity.
After 34 past bearish policy events, Urea moved a median -0.8% over 5 sessions (38% higher; middle half -3.3% to +1.8%), and -4.5% over 20.
