India reported 199.48 lakh metric tonnes of fertiliser availability for the 2026–27 rabi season as of October 16, including 85.57 lakh tonnes of urea and 23.06 lakh tonnes of DAP. After sales of 24.16 lakh tonnes, closing stocks stood at 175.32 lakh tonnes, against a full-season requirement of 380.96 lakh tonnes.
The large inventory buffer reduces the risk of near-term fertiliser shortages during winter-crop planting and nutrient application. It is likely to temper domestic fertiliser price pressure, although distribution and product mix remain important.
After 42 past bearish report events, Urea moved a median +0.3% over 5 sessions (57% higher; middle half -1.9% to +3.3%), and +2.9% over 20.
