A Taiwanese oil processor remains shut after a benzo[a]pyrene contamination incident, reducing domestic soybean-oil and soybean-meal output. The agriculture ministry says it is coordinating increased production by other processors and will reduce import tariffs by 5% for firms that need to import; it also says soybean-meal supply is expected to be adequate through December.
The shutdown tightens local soybean-meal availability, while tariff relief and higher output elsewhere could offset the shortfall by encouraging imports and production. The effect on prices should therefore be supportive in the near term but limited if replacement supply arrives as planned.
