CHS Inc. and Cargill plan to add Cargill's Houston export grain terminal to TEMCO LLC, their joint venture that currently runs three Pacific Northwest facilities. The move would extend TEMCO's export reach through the Port of Houston for grains, oilseeds and byproducts.
The terminal is stated to have six million bushels of storage, rail capacity for 350 cars and annual handling of up to 250 million bushels.
A Gulf Coast export outlet adds handling capacity and routing options for US grain and oilseeds, which can modestly shift regional basis and export logistics. The effect on global prices is limited given the terminal's capacity relative to total US exports.
