NASS data show U.S. processors crushed 199 million bushels of soybeans in September, down 5% from August and 3% from a year earlier. Meal output fell to about 4.19 million tons and crude soybean oil production dropped 6% to 2.31 billion pounds.
Lower crush reduces meal supply, which is supportive for soybean meal prices, while the shift toward inedible oil use for biofuels shows continued strong demand for oil. The August-to-September drop partly reflects one fewer day in September.
