OCP North America announced that a vessel carrying about 54,000 tonnes of Moroccan triple superphosphate (TSP) has arrived at the Port of New Orleans. The shipment follows a US administration decision, announced June 29, to temporarily suspend countervailing duties on Moroccan phosphate fertilizer imports.
The cargo will be distributed to US farmers ahead of the fall planting season.
Restored access to Moroccan phosphate eases tight US phosphate supply, which can cap fertilizer price spikes and improve farm margins for corn and soybean planting. The impact on feed commodity prices is modest, but it adds supply relief in a market already short of phosphate.
