The International Gas Union's 10th Wholesale Gas Price Report found that global natural gas prices converged further in 2017, with spot LNG pricing in Asia Pacific gaining share. Gas-on-gas competition now accounts for 46% of world consumption across 54 countries.
The findings were released at the World Gas Conference in Washington.
Greater convergence toward LNG spot benchmarks links North American and Asian gas costs more closely, which can affect energy and fertilizer input costs for feed producers. The direct effect on feed grain prices is limited.
After 40 past neutral report events, Natural Gas moved a median +1.2% over 5 sessions (60% higher; middle half -3.5% to +2.8%), and +4.5% over 20.
