Peru's production ministry authorized the start of the second 2018 anchovy fishing season in the north-center zone, starting November 15, with a catch limit of 2.1 million metric tons. The quota follows the recommendation of the Peruvian Sea Institute IMARPE, which reported about 7.2 million tons of biomass.
A 2.1 million ton quota keeps fishmeal and fish oil supply ample, which tends to cap fishmeal prices and weigh on soymeal-substitute demand for protein feeds.
