Malaysia's Ministry of Primary Industries is negotiating with the Ministry of Finance to create a biodiesel stabilisation fund. The proposal would send 3% of the windfall tax on palm oil exporters into the fund, which would subsidise biodiesel blending when CPO prices exceed diesel prices.
Blending upgrades were also agreed at 35 petroleum terminals.
A fund that subsidises biodiesel blending would support domestic palm oil demand and could help keep CPO prices firm, while the windfall tax link ties the scheme to export revenue.
After 548 past bullish policy events, Palm Oil moved a median +0.4% over 5 sessions (61% higher; middle half -0.7% to +2.1%), and +0.9% over 20.
