A study published in the Climate, Disaster and Development Journal uses the AquaCrop model to project sugarcane yields in Negros Occidental, Philippines. It estimates yields could rise 5% to 30% by 2050 due to wetter summers, with irrigation and earlier planting adding further gains.
The findings concern a regional sugarcane crop with no direct link to feed grain or oilseed supply or prices, so the market impact is minimal.
